SO HERE ARE THE FACTS...
Entry/ Exit and Visa Requirements: You must have a valid U.S passport no matter how old you are to enter or exit Guatemala. You should carry your passport or a copy of your passport at all times while in the country. There is an exit tax that must be paid if you depart by air, currently $30. U.S citizens do not need a visa for a stay of 90 days or less. This 90 days can be extended upon appplication to Guatemalan immigration.

The beautiful ironsand beach, colored black by the nearby erruptions from volcanoes, on the Pacific Coast was not what I was expecting at all. It is said to be Guatemala's best beach and it was the truth without a doubt, but not in the way your common tourist would like. It was completely {monterrico.jpg} Lounging on the hammocks in Monterricoundeveloped, not fancy or luxurious and not very touristy. I loved it! Hector and I sort of took a day off, taking our time to see the sights at Monterrico. Around lunch time we sat around for an hour in hammocks eating veggie burgers and having surprsingly inexpensive pina coladas. We then played beach soccer with some backpackers we met from Europe.
We stopped by theanimal sanctuary after being beaten sorely by our european friends. My heart was immediately stolen by every single baby turtle I saw. There must have been thousands. To help with the survival of the baby turtles, travelers are {turtle.jpg} No wonder they wanted us to help realsease them, they're so small!allowed to help release the turtles in the evening and watch them safely make their journey out to sea.
