SO HERE ARE THE FACTS... Entry/ Exit and Visa Requirements: You must have a valid U.S passport no matter how old you are to enter or exit Guatemala. You should carry your passport or a copy of your passport at all times while in the country. There is an exit tax that must be paid if you depart by air, currently $30. U.S citizens do not need a visa for a stay of 90 days or less. This 90 days can be extended upon appplication to Guatemalan immigration.
Vaccine Recommendations: It is recommended that you are up to date on the following vaccines- MMR, DPT, Hepatitus A and B, Typhoid and Rabies and Malaria medication.
Currency: Quetzal 8.1 to every U.S dollar
Languages: official language is Spanish but there are 21 ethno liguistic mayan dialects

Travel Warning/U.S Embassy: As of March 5, 2009 there is a notice for Measles. It is a common disease across the world but they recommend that you get the vaccination. Dengue Fever has also become prevelent so they recommend that you stay indoors when possible and wear insect repellent on uncovered skin.
